Welcome to Vivienne Cobden Counselling Service in Lymington, New Forest.

As you are here, it is clear you are looking for some help in managing or changing areas of your life which are troubling you.

Do the issues in your life feel like they are getting on top of you?

Could you benefit from having some time out in a comfortable non-judgmental place within the beautiful area of Lymington in the New Forest, at your pace, on a mutually convenient day and time?

Please read on and hopefully, together, we can work towards achieving a more contented, untroubled place for you to be. Whatever modality a therapist uses, it is the relationship between the counsellor/therapist & client that is the most important for a positive outcome.

There is no such thing as a small, stupid or insignificant problem. In the 22 years I have been practising as a counsellor/therapist, I have learned that we are all individual & our problems can cause us distress. For some, simply being heard, perhaps for the first time is enough, others seek change.

That old metaphor “one can’t see the wood for the trees” is so true. When we are entrenched within our own thoughts, and our problems seem insurmountable, we often cannot see the wider picture, or an alternative path. We stumble along bumping into the same obstacles time and time again, with no idea how to navigate a different path

As your counsellor/therapist, I will endeavour to help you understand how your problems arose and most importantly, how together, we can work towards finding a happier, clearer path.

My own journey began when I had personal therapy to help with many years of unhappiness, anxiety and discontent. These feelings confused me as there were no obvious reasons why I should feel this way.

With the aid of my therapist I was able to recognise how my thoughts, which I experienced as facts, were affecting my moods, behaviour and relationships with others.

Research shows that rather than the model of counselling practised, it is the relationship between the counsellor and client that determines the success of the counselling. I sincerely believe this, and therefore work to the best of my ability to provide an accepting, non judgemental, respectful environment, in which trust can develop.

I work privately from my home in Pilley, near Lymington in the beautiful New Forest, Hampshire. My practice room provides a comfortable and non-clinical environment and there is ample off street parking and just a three minute walk from the 112 bus stop (Boldre War Memorial).

I typically meet with my clients on a weekly basis for fifty minutes and depending on one’s situation and preference, I work both long term and shorter term.
I have extensive experience working with people from all different backgrounds & lifestyles.

My fees are £45.00 for a 50 minute session.
