Your questions answered…
You are bound to have questions. I’ve tried to answer the most frequently asked, but feel free to call me on 07885 059990 or email me if they’re not covered here.
What kind of issues have you helped with?
I have worked for many years as a counsellor both within the NHS and privately. So naturally, I have come across a wide range of issues which can affect us all – from bereavement to relationships and from family to work-related issues.
Where do we meet?
We meet in a quiet and comfortable room in my house, and work within a calm environment. In this way, you can explore your thoughts and concerns in complete privacy and I can help you work through the difficulties to greater peace and wellbeing.
How long is each session?
The first session is an hour, thereafter sessions are 50 minutes.
What happens in our first session?
When you contact me, we arrange a mutually convenient day and time to meet and talk about your concerns. This is a no obligation meeting which allows us to see how we might work together and to think about the best way forward for you. If we agree to continue, we arrange a time to meet regularly each week.
How much does it cost?
My fee is £45 for 50 minutes.
How long will I be ‘in therapy’?
This is very individual. Sometimes we will agree a fixed number of sessions, sometimes we will leave the ending open so that you can say when you feel ready to finish. It’s always your decision. We will explore this in more detail at our initial meeting, taking into account what you would like from our time together.
What about confidentiality?
Anything you tell me will be in complete confidence and will stay that way, except where you tell me otherwise. Information you share is never disclosed to others unless required by a court of law or there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others. And I would always seek to discuss this with you in the first instance.
How do I get there?
When we arrange the first meeting, I will give you directions by car. You can park in my drive. Public transport is also an option (I’m a three-minute walk from the bus stop).
How do I know if we’d work well together?
It isn’t always easy finding the right person to open up to about difficult things. It might take us one or two sessions to see how we ‘fit’ and how we feel about working together.
