We meet in the beautiful area of Lymington in the New Forest, on a mutually convenient day and time and work at your pace.
Working together, you will come to see how you can change how you think and feel and can move towards achieving a more contented, untroubled sense of wellbeing and start to enjoy life again.
In the 22 years I’ve been practising, I have learned that we are all individual. Our problems may be big or small, but they often cause distress.
For some, simply being heard – perhaps for the first time – is enough. For others, it’s about seeking real and lasting change.
That old metaphor “you can’t see the wood for the trees” is so true. When we’re entrenched within our own thoughts, and our problems seem insurmountable, we often can’t see the wider picture. We stumble along, bumping into the same obstacles time and time again, with no idea how to navigate a different route. As your counsellor / therapist, I help you understand how your problems arose and together, we can work towards you finding a happier, clearer path.
How therapy helped me
My own journey began when I had personal therapy to help with many years of unhappiness, anxiety and discontent. These feelings confused me as there were no obvious reasons why I should feel this way.
With the aid of my therapist, I was able to recognise how my thoughts, which I experienced as facts, were affecting my moods, behaviour and relationships with others.
I may have some understanding of what you are going through. And I am mindful of how hard it might be to seek help. To admit that you have a problem, to open up to somebody you’ve never met, to come to terms with whatever the issue might be and recognise that things from your past may be causing you unnecessary pain and stress in the present.
Counselling is successful when the two people are a good fit
I have worked as a counsellor both within the NHS and privately. (There's more about my training, qualifications and experience here.)Whatever method a counsellor / therapist uses, it is the relationship you have with that person which is important for a positive outcome. I truly believe this and will work to the best of my ability to provide an accepting, non-judgemental, respectful environment for you, in which trust can develop and hopefully you will attain a better sense of wellbeing.

I trained as a group psychotherapist and hold a Diploma in Group Analytic Psychotherapy. I am predominantly a psychodynamic counsellor, understanding how events and circumstances in our earlier years affect us in the present.
However, I incorporate mindfulness and innate health into my practice. Innate health focuses on how our thinking affects all areas of our lives, whatever our past. There’s more about this on My Counselling page.

I work privately from my home in Pilley, near Lymington, in the beautiful New Forest in Hampshire.
My practice room provides a comfortable, cosy and non-clinical environment where you can talk in confidence about whatever is troubling you, without fear of being judged or criticised – which you can’t always do with friends or family.
I’m really easy to find and within reach of Lymington, Brockenhurst, Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, Milford on Sea and New Milton. There is ample off-street parking and I’m just a three-minute walk from the 112 bus stop (Boldre War Memorial).
Typically, we’ll meet on a weekly basis for 50 minutes. Depending on your situation and preference, I can work both short-term and longer term.
